The beginnings
The story of SOFINOR began with a young boy, Jean FINOT, who dismantled and reassembled objects to understand how they worked and dreamt of becoming an inventor.
Always with pencil and paper in hand, he designed and built his first kitchen units in 1961. As soon as they were displayed in the family hardware store, they were sold.
Inventions
In 1965, he created ‘La Mamette’, the first automatic calf feeder. More than 4,000 were in use around the world.
Two years later, he invented the Cyclosauna: the infernal slimming machine.

The inauguration
In the 1960s, SOFINOR inaugurated its workshops in Pérenchies, in the north of France. At the time, ‘all the high-rise buildings in Lille, which were under construction at the time, were equipped with this furniture’.
Expanding the range
Over the years, the SOFINOR range has grown, with the company manufacturing gas fryers and rethermalization equipment, stoves, bain-maries, tables, tables with sink, trolleys and ladders for bakeries, hand-washing units and a whole range of hygiene equipment, etc.
Today, we offer you more than 5,000 references so that you can work in the best possible conditions.
European growth
The acquisition of Mapal in 2021 marked a turning point in Sofinor’s development.
Mapal is a Lyon-based company that designs and manufactures solutions for the preparation, storage and presentation of fresh produce in supermarkets.
Mapal’s move into Poland opens up new international development opportunities for Sofinor. From now on, a new sales force dedicated to exports will carry all the Group’s brands internationally. The ambition is to increase the export share of the Group’s turnover to over 25%.
