The stainless steel equipment manufacturer serving food professionals takes a collective and sustainable

Bois-Grenier, Octobre 2025
French stainless-steel equipment manufacturer SOFINOR has been awarded the Engagé RSE label by AFNOR Certification, officially recognizing the maturity and performance of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) approach.
This distinction also grants the “Responsibility Europe” recognition, extending its reach at the international level.

A hands-on commitment rooted in workshops and kitchens

At SOFINOR, CSR is not a communications exercise – it is lived daily within the company’s core business: designing and manufacturing professional equipment used every day by chefs, caterers, bakers, pastry chefs, and collective kitchen operators.
Since 2017, the company has reshaped its industrial model to combine performance, durability, and purpose.

““Our stainless-steel know-how must be useful – to our teams, our customers, our region, and our planet. The Responsability Europe label is both a recognition and a compass to go further in transforming our industry,” explains Guillaume Deleau, President of Sofinor.

A certification based on tangible evidence

The AFNOR evaluation, conducted on-site by an independent expert, is based on the international ISO 26000 standard and involved SOFINOR’s employees, partners, and clients, who were interviewed about the company’s social, environmental, and economic practices.
The label highlights:

  • Participative governance (multi-disciplinary CSR committee, cross-functional working groups)
  • Human Resources policy focused on quality of work life
  • A strong commitment to reducing environmental footprint of both products and production sites

This external recognition confirms the credibility of a process that has accelerated over the past three years.

A collective approach

SOFINOR’s priority has been to engage its employees and make them key players in the CSR journey.

Since 2022, a CSR Committee made up of twelve volunteer employees from across all departments (production, purchasing, HR, QHSE, sales, etc.) has defined four key commitments guiding the company’s decisions.

The committee now coordinates six CSR working groups responsible for turning these commitments into concrete actions.

To foster participation, management allows up to two hours per month during working time for employees involved in CSR projects.

As a result, nearly 60% of employees are now directly or indirectly involved in the program.

A carbon footprint to guide meaningful action

In 2022, SOFINOR carried out a comprehensive carbon footprint assessment (Scopes 1, 2 and 3) with consultancy R3, as part of the Bpifrance / ADEME Diag Décarbon’action program.
The result: 30,647 tCO₂e emitted – with 89% linked to the energy used by Sofinor equipment during its lifetime

This insight has guided the company’s environmental roadmap:

  • designing more energy-efficient equipment,
  • reducing waste by 30%,
  • and targeting energy self-sufficiency (non-process energy) by 2026.

Concrete commitments

Sofinor’s CSR strategy is built around four key commitments defined by its CSR Committee:

  1. Building a responsible business model (circular economy, low-carbon purchasing, sustainable service offering);
  2. Reducing the environmental footprint of its sites (energy, water, waste);
  3. Fostering a caring, safe, and inclusive workplace (well-being, safety, supportive management);
  4. Contributing to the sustainable development of its region and industry (cooperation within the Bois-Grenier industrial zone, inclusion, educational outreach, local partnerships)

Evolving together

As a recognized player in stainless-steel equipment for restaurants, bakeries, pastry shops, and large-scale catering, Sofinor aims to share its experience and inspire the sector’s transition toward more responsible practices, through:

  • Eco-design and repairability
  • Energy efficiency ;
  • Active listening to customers and stakeholders, ensuring that its CSR efforts remain aligned with the expectations of the field.

“This label commits us beyond our own walls: it drives us to innovate, to reduce the carbon footprint of our products, and to support food professionals on their own path to sustainability,” concludes Guillaume Deleau.
